MF Tool was established in March 2021 by then 19-year-old Matthew Fomicola. Matt’s interest in manufacturing began in high school while working as a janitor at a large machine shop centered on the aerospace industry. Upon graduation he began an apprenticeship as a toolmaker, learning the trade from the ground up. At the end of his second-year toolmaker apprenticeship, Matt opened his own shop with a manual mill inside a storage shed.
The business quickly grew, leading to the acquisition of HAAS machinery with mills and lathes, running a state-of-the-art CNC job shop at their new facility in Berlin CT where they provide services to local shops.
In 2022, Matt enlisted older brother, Josh to join him at MF Tool. Together they are making great strides in the central Connecticut manufacturing community.
When asked what the deciding factor was when he joined CTMA in late 2022, Matt stated Alan Ortner (CTMA member) discussed the benefits of membership with him early on he knew then, he wanted to be part of Connecticut’s tightknit group of manufacturers.
“I am excited to see what the future holds and where I can give back by offering apprentices and helping the next wave of problem-solvers join the workforce”, said Matt.
“We are delighted to have Matt and Josh as a new and active members of CTMA and look forward to working with them together in the months and years ahead”, said CTMA President, Bruce Dworak.
